JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Background

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was founded as a government agency on April 1, 1991, to maximize the effectiveness of South Korea’s grant aid programs for developing countries by implementing the government’s grant aid and technical cooperation programs as well as promoting sustainable development, strengthening partnerships with developing partners, and enhancing the local ownership of beneficiaries.

KOICA started its first development cooperation with the Government of Rwanda in 2006, and the KOICA Rwanda Office was officially established in 2011 to extend and strengthen its activities in the country and the partnership with the government and the development partners. KOICA Rwanda Office is constantly seeking to improve the results of its work as well as the way it works with its competent and devoted employees.

Volunteer and PR Officer (1)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide Support for Volunteer Management:

Conduct regular monitoring of volunteers;
Assist volunteers for health management (Schedule and reservation for Medical checkup, vaccination, Meeting medical specialists for consultation, treatments, etc.);
Prepare and monitor new volunteer’s trainings (Language Training, Cultural trips and life experience, OJT, etc.);
Organize and monitor volunteer conferences and meetings; and
Perform other tasks as required by the management.
Perform Public Relations Functions:

Carry out PR activities to promote and raise awareness about KOICA;
Respond to information queries from partners, the general public and media;
Write press releases, media kits, and other promotional materials for KOICA activities;
Assist KOICA events including press conferences, workshops, open days, exhibitions, tours and visits;
Help manage and keep record of KOICA PR materials and supplies (T-shirts, calendars, notes, etc)
Manage and update KOICA Rwanda office English website as well as social media; and
Perform other PR tasks as required by the management.

Provide Administrative Support:

Manage office space to maintain good working conditions;
Arrange meetings and liaise with partners whenever necessary; and
Perform other administrative tasks as required by the management.
Minimum Education/Experience:

Applicants much hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any one of the following disciplines: development, international cooperation, communication, journalism, public relations or any other disciplines deemed relevant.
2~3 years of work experience in communication and public relations is highly preferred.
Required (Preferred) Skills and Competencies:

Good command of English and Kinyarwanda with effective communication skills;
Ability to edit video and photos and use graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, etc.);
Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office (Word and PowerPoint);
Negotiation – preparation for negotiations involving multiple parties
Strong work ethics (timeliness, collaboration, and integrity)
Timely reporting and customer-oriented attitude
Interested candidates are required to submit an application letter addressed to Country Director of the KOICA Rwanda Office, enclosed and sealed with a detailed C.V., a notarized copy of degree certificates and of past work certificates in related field to the reception of the KOICA Rwanda Office in Nyarutarama, Golf course road, KG 34 by 11:00am on Friday 1st of March, 2019.

* The C.V. must be written within 3 pages in English otherwise the application will be disqualified. The relevant experience will only be effective with a hard copy of the certificates presented at submission and candidates must not be in employment elsewhere when accepting the job offer.
